Now that Lili Reinhart and Cole Sprouse have basically confirmed their relationship (there’s enough proof to prove that they’re dating whether they want to admit it or not), we couldn’t be happier. However, despite all the positive reactions regarding their romance, there are some people who are convinced the actress is pregnant thanks to a photo that’s going viral on Twitter.
After the Riverdale couple was spotted in New Orleans over the weekend, fans began to start speculating that the two were expecting their first child together because Lili can be seen with a slight bulge in her belly. It sounds crazy, we know! So, Lili hit back at all the speculation by posting a message on Instagram insisting that the photo was simply “unflattering.” We’ve all been there, right?
“It’s unfortunate that one unflattering photo of my stomach circulating the internet causes hundreds of people to think that I’m pregnant,” Lili wrote in a series of Instagram Stories. “Nope. Not pregnant. This is just my body. And sometimes I’m bloated. Sometimes an unflattering photo is taken of me. Sometimes I go through periods of time where I gain weight.”
Lili went on to say that her body is something she will “NEVER apologize for” and that it will constantly go through changes. She concluded her message by telling everyone not to put so much time and effort into caring about a stranger’s figure – and she’s so right. Let the girl live! So what that she was a little bloated? Why do people feel the need to immediately assume the person is pregnant? It’s rude AF.
Even Lili’s Riverdale co-star Camila Mendes, who plays Veronica Lodge on the hit CW series, praised her friend for responding to the rumors. “Inspired by you @lilireinhart. I feel bloated 24/7, my weight fluctuates constantly, it comes with being a woman and should be celebrated, not criticized,” she wrote before adding that she used to fear public scrutiny herself. “But seeing somebody as beautiful as Lili respond to public scrutiny by preaching and practicing self-love is all it takes for me to overcome that fear. Proud to call her my friend. Let’s continue inspiring women to love their bodies.”
Lili took matters into her own hands and stopped the rumors from being spread, which is really all a celebrity can do when some insane gossip like that starts circulating. The 21-year-old breakout star isn’t afraid to make her own rules when it comes to dealing with fame and Hollywood’s insane beauty standards. Earlier this month, she opened up about her struggle with cystic acne, revealing that how it’s been a burden on her self-esteem since she was 12 years old.
You go, girl! Even though she should’ve have had to even address such a baseless pregnancy rumor, we glad she decided to shut them down with the most body-positive clap back ever.
