What things should you think about before breast augmentation?
What things should I be considering that my doctor might not be thinking about without my input?
Many women want breast augmentation to help become more proportionate since they wear a smaller size on top than on bottom. Too large an implant can create new problems (like not being able to button any of the blouses you already own). Carefully consider this before going larger just because you don’t want to regret going to small or because you “want to get your money’s worth”.
Also, some patients want larger breasts so they look like they have a smaller waist. Again, going too large can lower the fold, create too much fullness on top, and acutally make you look heavier and more short waisted.
What are the most common regrets?
– SIZE: although there is a common conception that women always “wish they went bigger”, I have noticed that an equal number of patients wish they had chosen a smaller implant. Many patients get used to the swelling and artificial fullness to the top of the breast that is present for the first three months until the implants settle. That means that going larger wouldn’t necessarily have made you happier, because no matter how large you go, there’s always swelling that resolves.
